Scissors Paper Pen is looking for some new folks to join the team and help us make lit happen in Canberra. We are a small team so we work across different projects to help each other out when things become busy. Most of the time, though, it just means committing to about an hour a week. Some of the things you could expect to work on include:
- planning possible projects for Scissors Paper Pen
- helping run the mentorship program (e.g. doing the call out for writers, finding mentors, editing final works)
- organising and running spoken word events
- editing posts for the website
- putting posts up on the website using WordPress system
- writing grant applications.
THE BIG IMPORTANT QUESTION: Is this paid? No one at Scissors Paper Pen has ever been paid for the work we do here. We do it because we love it and want to use our skills to help local writers by organising professional development opportunities. Although we donate our time, we make sure that the writers we publish get paid and that our workshop facilitators get paid. In good news, our time with SPP has given us experiences, connections and opportunities that have led each of us to paid work. We’re also ready to support you in applying for grants and organising other funding opportunities.
